Let's see, yesterday... I helped the slave with some bannering and the code for some delayed popups to use on some of the sites. I got pictures sorted for updates on two of the bigger websites. I went to a Quixtar meeting at my son's. I thought it was just going to be me and a guy from his upline who could explain the numbers. It turned out to be a housefull of quixtar people and some friends of my son who he's trying to persuade to join the business. The "numbers" guy turned out to be less than persuasive. He had a lot of numbers, though, statistics and such. Most of his numbers were lies according to the research I did on the net the other night. But I think that he believed his numbers. He just doesn't know any better. I don't hold it against him. He has just memorized a lot of propaganda fed to him by those above him in the food chain. The amount of deceitfulness in the business does bother me, though. Opposing views and facts are available on the net, so I suppose anyone who does not seek truth is personally responsible for their credulity.
Even though there seems to be a lot of deception involved in their talks, and I saw several classical brainwashing techniques employed at the open meeting I attended last week, it still seems to me that there is money to be made through Quixtar. They are still marketing the business the same way they have for 40 years as Amway. Personal contacts and face to face meetings, the sale of motivational materials, pep talks... Even though they now have a web site where you can order products, they don't seem to have a clue how to market on the internet. The potential is huge. They already have the MLM system in place and they have actual products to sell, unlike many MLMs, products that many people have tried and liked. All they would need to really market on the internet is some coding infrastructure to support tracking affiliate referrals from other websites and we could make some money. I would be surprised if their ecommerce software doesn't already support that infrastructure. They have simply chosen not to implement it, probably because they don't understand the potential. The porn industry has honed that type of marketing to a fine art. The mainstream hasn't really caught on yet. I'm going to sign up with Quixtar and get an IBO number and see if I can be the first (the one who makes most of the money) with actually marketing effectively on the net. Even if Quixtar refuses to change their old-fashioned way of doing things, I'm pretty sure I can think of ways to work around that obstacle.
Today, I sorted pictures and got another six sites ready for their monthly updates. I gave the slave a new script to work on, for a pay-per-click search engine, and she spent most of the day working on that. I'm hoping she will struggle with it for at least a few days, giving me time to catch up on all my other work. Anyway, here are the two site updates we actually got done:
